Ten Things

. Tuesday, 16 August 2016 .

1. Sometimes life is about finding yourself in your friend's living room at 8:30 on a Monday night, doing some copywriting while listening to her and her husband have the most random talks. The kind that only happens between two people who have been in love for a long time. Lighthearted banter, domestic admin, and glances exchanged between them as they have their own secret conversation going on somewhere. Sometimes life is also about watching lip sync battle while said friend demonstrates the yoga poses she's learnt in her maternity class while her husband looks lovingly on.

2. Amazing things happen everyday. Maybe not to me but definitely to the people around me and this thought is enough to get me through.

3. Laurie Hernandez whispering "I got this" before her beam routine is the most inspiring thing I've seen in a very long time. Tears. Chills. Proud. Also side note that Hernandez is my middle name!

4. Sundays spent tucked up with a book and my journal, drinking hot chocolate and eating ice cream, people watching... my perfect Sunday routine made even better with good company.

5. PechaKucha went amazingly well. Content wise it was one of the stronger ones - if not the strongest - yet. I'm incredibly proud to be part of it.

6. Speaking of PechaKucha, this tweet is possibly the nicest tweet I've ever gotten and I want to print it out and stick it up in my mirror.

7. I bought my first Chanel lipstick last week and it's changed me. I'm impressed and shocked at how smooth it applies, the colour pay off, and how long it lasts. Also bonus points that I don't need a lipliner or a lip brush for it. I think I should do a review tbh.

8. NZFW is in a week. There is work to be done. But I am excited. Ready. Able. Picture above was my view after work tonight at Mitchell's workroom.

9.. I am so grateful for the the beautiful soul that is Mitchell! We've always been friendly and would go for the odd coffee, see each other at events, but it's only recently that we started working together and spending a lot of time with each other. I've seen first hand how hard you work, the kindness and compassion you have for the people around you, the inspiring, fresh ideas you have. The creative genius that you are. I am in awe and appreciation of the person you are. We love you because you're Mitchell Vincent the person, not just the designer. I'm excited to see where the future takes you but firs..... NZFW!

10. It's the most fascinating thing watching your face as you're lost in thought or focused on what you're doing. The way your eyes light up, how I can almost see your mind working, or the expression you get when a new thought forms into your head and you're so excited to get it all out. Your fingers type faster, your whole body language changes, and in that moment it's just you and your art. It was the loveliest picture that I'll always remember. It's a feeling I miss. To truly devote yourself to an artform. To have ideas that just needed to be taken notice of urgently. I don't know if you saw me watching you and smiling to myself, but I did. Thank you for letting me into your little world.
